The EGS creates projects that transform the traditional view of the urban landscape - in their work skyscrapers transform into game tokens and the city becomes a site of collaborative play.

In 2013, Dr. Frank Lee re-created Pong for Philly Tech Week by hacking (with permission!) the 29-story LED display of the Cira Centre.  This broke the Guinness World Record for the “World's Largest Architectural Videogame Display.”

The following year, Lee beat his own record with Skyscraper Tetris. Part of Philly Tech Week 2014, Skyscraper Tetris utilized two faces of the Cira Centre to create a competitive Tetris game for two players. Seen from both North and South Philadelphia, this public art/game installation was created to celebrate Tetris’s 30th anniversary. Undergraduate Computer Science student Colan Biemer, Computer Science System Administrator Gaylord Holder, and undergraduate Software Engineering student Marc Barrowclift all aided in the game's production.

The EGS has succeeded in bringing over 2,500 people together in the experience of playing games on the cityscape, and will continue to pursue more ambitious public art/game projects in the future.
